Job Summary:

  • The Production Planner/Buyer is responsible for planning, purchasing, and managing raw materials, consumables, and inventory to support production needs.

  • This role ensures timely scheduling, work order creation, and release of production requirements to meet customer expectations.

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • Purchasing & Supplier Management:

  • Perform purchasing functions, including analyzing demand, forecasts, and historical usage to execute build-to-order and build-to-forecast plans.

  • Identify, develop, and manage supplier relationships to achieve cost, quality, and delivery goals.

  • Support supplier performance monitoring through reporting, scorecards, and corrective actions.

  • Production Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop and manage production schedules using ERP/MRP systems.

  • Release work orders, generate pick lists, travelers, and supporting documentation.

  • Coordinate movement and release of materials to avoid production delays.

  • Provide capacity planning by department and machine.

  • Inventory Management & Control:

  • Monitor, adjust, and maintain inventory levels in alignment with lean principles.

  • Participate in cycle counts and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy.

  • Support demand-driven inventory planning and pull system implementation.

  • Quality & Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) meetings to resolve material-related issues.

  • Contribute to Lean initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and cross-functional problem-solving events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in production planning, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.

  • ERP/MRP system experience required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

  • Experience with capacity planning, lean inventory management, pull system implementation, and high-mix/high-volume manufacturing.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

Salary info:

$43.27 - $52.88 / hr
