Unit Overview:
- Total Beds:
- 4 secure beds in a locked psychiatric Annex
- 25 procedure rooms (private or curtained)

8 hallway beds (utilized 24/7)
- Patient Ratio: 4:1 (with flexibility during surge periods)
Patient Population
Our ED treats a wide variety of high-acuity patients, including:
- Patients with multiple comorbidities
- Complex cardiac cases (NEHI – New England Heart Institute)
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Sepsis, Stroke, Trauma
- Psychiatric emergencies
Typical Procedures Performed:
- Trauma response
- Stroke care
- Laceration repair
- Orthopedic trauma management
- Ultrasound-guided IV and IO insertions
- EKGs and eye exams
- Cardiopulmonary and psychiatric interventions
Technology & Equipment:
- EMR: Sunrise / Allscripts
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, Pyxis system, Ultrasound IV insertion tools, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser
Ideal Candidate Profile
Must-Have Qualifications (Required for Contract Roles):
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience (for contract labor)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications
- Strong communication and assessment skills
- Adaptability and critical thinking
- Dependability and punctuality
- Solid understanding of medical terminology (especially for department coordinators)
Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC – required for contract staff, preferred for others
