We are looking for an experienced Lead Enterprise Architect to drive strategic technology decisions and establish scalable, reliable architectural frameworks for the organization. In this role, you will build the enterprise architecture function from the ground up. The Lead Enterprise Architect will define architectural strategy, guide solution design, elevate engineering best practices, and advise senior leadership. You’ll work closely with the CIO, technical leaders, and business stakeholders to create a scalable, secure, and modern technology ecosystem. This is a highly strategic, hands-on leadership role for a self-starter who can operate in an environment with significant architectural gaps and minimal existing standards. This role is hybrid in Boston.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture
- Assess the current architecture, identify gaps/anti-patterns, and define the future-state architecture.
- Establish enterprise-wide architecture standards, patterns, and governance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and present recommendations to executive leadership.
- Align solution design with business goals and long-term technology strategy.
Solution Architecture
- Lead solution design for policy admin platforms (Duck Creek, Guidewire), microservices, APIs, integrations, and data architecture.
- Provide guidance, not coding, to development teams and technical leads.
- Develop architectural blueprints and ensure adherence across engineering teams.
DevOps & Testing Leadership
- Manage 2 DevOps Engineers and 1 Testing Engineer.
- Standardize CI/CD practices, DevOps frameworks, and testing automation across teams.
Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Drive architectural roadmaps for applications, data, and integrations.
- Partner with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet organizational needs.
- Mentor engineers and influence engineering, data, and infrastructure teams.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years in architecture/solution design; strong SDLC experience.
- 8+ years guiding engineering, DevOps, or QA teams; 3–4 years in management.
- Experience with TOGAF or similar frameworks.
- Expertise in microservices, APIs, integrations, cloud platforms, and DevOps.
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
Preferred
- Master’s degree.
- Financial services/insurance experience.
- Experience with Duck Creek, Guidewire, policy admin systems.
- Knowledge of enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), data modeling, and governance.
- Experience evaluating AI readiness and architecture impacts.
