Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting accessible learning with a contract role as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This position is available for either full-time or part-time work and will be based onsite, offering the opportunity to collaborate closely with educators and staff to create a supportive environment for students with visual impairments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instructional support for visually impaired students, adapting curriculum materials for accessibility
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement effective strategies and accommodations
  • Utilize assistive technology and instructional tools appropriate for students with varying degrees of visual impairment
  • Offer orientation and mobility strategies in classroom settings as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in accordance with school and state regulations
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and update plans

Qualifications:

  • Current VI Teacher License and MA Department of Education License required
  • Successful completion of MTELs (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
  • Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
  • Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles and needs
