We have 3 full time Technician positions open\ due to promotions within the organization. Technicians perform general maintenance work in BHA owned and managed properties. This includes building exteriors, common areas, apartments, building systems, fixtures, and grounds. Our Building Operations Techs are required to participate in the on-call rotation, which covers night and weekend emergencies. Current rotation is once every 6-7 weeks.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified candidates should have a minimum of two years of work in general building maintenance or building trades. The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated proficiency in building trades including carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, grounds keeping, and snow removal.
- Technicians must have a valid state motor vehicle operator license at all times. The physical activities for this position include squatting, ascending and descending ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, working in small or confined spaces, twisting and lifting up to 100 pounds, often repeating motions with wrists, fingers, and hands. This position works in all environmental conditions.
- Technicians must be detail oriented, efficient, be able to work within time sensitive parameters, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Having strong interpersonal skills and be sensitive to the needs of the elderly, disabled, and very low-income households is a must.
- Completed high school or equivalency, or any equivalent trade school along with a combination of training and maintenance experience.
- Must have the ability to perform painting and janitorial work, perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs, and to get along well with fellow employees and Residents.
Special Requirements
- The Building Operations Technician must have a valid state motor vehicle operator license at all times and a telephone in service at all times.
- Must participate in the weekly rotational “on-call” which covers night and weekend emergencies.
Physical Requirements

- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Operating machinery / heavy equipment and/or power tools
- Operating motor vehicles
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
- Communicating with others to exchange information
Environmental Conditions
Occasionally working in:
- Low and high temperatures
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Noisy environments
- Hazardous conditions
- Poor ventilation
- Small and/or enclosed spaces
Physical Demands
Occasionally:
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and/or standing
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds
- Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
