The Opportunity
A&M is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief for our Woburn team. Project types include retail, multifamily residential, commercial, medical/institutional, and mixed-use developments. Work includes construction layout, existing conditions, municipal roadways, ALTA/NSPS, property line surveys, large-scale mapping, and survey services supporting engineering projects.
What You’ll Do
· Supervise crew members and ensure daily assignments are completed accurately and efficiently.
· Perform boundary reconnaissance, construction staking, topographic surveys, and site control.
· Coordinate with engineers and construction site supervisors.
· Provide accurate layout and measurement of site features.
· Review maps, field notes, and exhibits; calculate construction staking.
· Upload/download data and manage survey equipment and supplies.
· Train team members and foster positive crew morale.
· Maintain survey vehicles, equipment, tools, and supplies.
· Complete required internal and external training and follow company procedures.
What We’re Looking For
· 3–5+ years of experience.
· Strong knowledge of robotic and conventional total stations, automatic levels, GPS, and related survey equipment.
· Experience with robotic total stations and data collectors.
· Strong leadership, organizational, supervisory, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently, including as a one-person crew when required.
· Thorough understanding of survey principles.
· Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
· Ability to travel to project sites throughout MA, RI, CT, and NH.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and physical conditions.
· Willingness to work overtime and travel overnight when required.
