Position Summary

The Mechanical Technician - Suppression will be responsible for functional and development testing of fire suppression systems and assist Mechanical and Fire Protection Engineers with test setup, test execution and documentation. Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of fire suppression systems and the associated auxiliary equipment. Strong emphasis on supporting product testing including system discharge tests, fire extinguishing tests and mechanical hardware tests. Majority of activity is in collaboration with engineers and other technicians across a broad range of projects. Support of some testing will be required in an outdoor environment at our test facility in Holliston, MA. 

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

<li>Work under limited supervision to provide technical support and task ownership to Suppression engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.</li>

<li>Set-up of fire test configurations, associated fire suppression equipment and installation of piping networks. </li>

Qualifications:

<li>HS Diploma or GED required</li>
<li>Five to seven years of industry-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience</li>
<li>At least one year of formal or informal supervisory, training, and/or mentoring experience</li>
<li>CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain as requested; possess engineering and trade licenses required according to local, state, or national requirements</li>
<li>In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, energy management software systems, CMMS, and other building operational platforms</li>
<li>Familiar with fire/life safety equipment/procedures</li>
<li>Proven track record of delivering excellent internal and external customer service; ability to successfully interact/communicate with tenants/vendors/contractors as well as teammates and leadership team</li>

Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as troubleshooting, on Viken equipment both on-site and remotely.</li>
<li>Develop training materials and provide hands-on instruction to our global representatives on the repair and maintenance of our x-ray systems.</li>
<li>Offer timely and effective support to service representatives via phone, email, chat, or in-person.</li>
<li>Diagnose instrument faults, perform repairs to factory specifications, and update internal databases with service details. This includes disassembling and reassembling delicate components.</li>
<li>Manage the internal service parts program to ensure our representatives have the necessary components for repairs.</li>
<li>Identify and document the root cause of issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of our service processes.</li>

Requirements:

Basic Function – Assist in the day-to-day management of a location ensuring that parking operations are handled within contractual guidelines of the specific location, adhering to company policies and procedures, fostering good client relations and promoting a professional image and approach to the business.
