The Recreation Department is seeking an individual to perform professional work in the safety and use of swimming pool(s), involving teaching all levels of swimming skills to individuals ranging from infants to senior citizens, assists in coordinating various aquatics programs and facility maintenance as needed, greets general public, answers questions and collects fees and registrations.
Part-time, hours vary. $16.49 per hour. Position is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
1.Patrolling of the pool. Maintain and enforce safety rules and regulations. Organize and conduct safety and rescue drills.

4.Greet public using the aquatic facilities.

**Key Responsibilities**: - Provide surf lessons for individuals and groups across all age groups and abilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for each student. - Teach surfing techniques, ocean safety, and surf etiquette. - Accurately assess students' surfing levels and customize instruction to meet their needs. - Handle and maintain all surf equipment with care. - Create a positive and encouraging space for students to learn and enhance their surfing skills.
**Requirements**: - **Years of Surf Experience**: Candidates must have extensive surfing experience and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the sport. - **Lifeguard Certification**: A valid lifeguard certification is mandatory for this role to guarantee student safety at all times. - **Availability**: Availability to work weekends is required, as these are our busiest teaching times. The position is seasonal, from spring to fall. - **Attributes**: We are looking for a responsible, surfing-enthusiast who can inspire our students. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a friendly and patient teaching approach, and the ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and skill levels.
**Note**: This position is not suitable for beginner surfers. Only applicants with significant surfing experience and the necessary qualifications are encouraged to apply.
