JOB SUMMARY
The Sr Scientist/Technical Lead Analytical Development will be part of the Process Development group, reporting to the Director of Process Development. A short 27 miles from Boston, our office is centrally located just south of the confluence of US Route 3, Route 495, and the Lowell Connector, with a stop along the MBTA’s Lowell bus route 15, and a short drive from the Lowell and Billerica commuter rail stops. This office is located along the developing Route 129 corridor in Chelmsford.
 
Responsibilities include:
<ul>
<li>Develop geotechnical investigation requirements for projects and develop scopes of services and budgets for sub-consultant partners including other geotechnical specialists or subsurface investigation companies</li>
<li>Interface with sub-consultant geotechnical engineering firms or subsurface investigation companies to coordinate services and review submissions</li>
<li>Perform fieldwork, as necessary, to subsurface investigation parameters or to observe investigations</li>
<li>Perform/ review design calculations for project components such as abutments, walls, foundations, retaining walls, and tanks</li>
<li>Assist with design of airfield pavements and present alternative pavement solutions that may provide project sustainability and resilience benefits</li>
<li>Mentor team members on aspects of geotechnical engineering including interpretation of subsurface data and designs of civil infrastructure components</li>
<li>Design and evaluate shallow and deep foundation systems including driven piles, micro-piles, integral abutments, reinforced earth structures, and other geotechnical engineering solutions</li>
<li>Prepare geotechnical reports, design calculations, and construction specifications</li>
<li>Collaborate with project managers and other technical team members to ensure the successful completion of projects by communicating the integration of geotechnical investigations into design projects</li>
<li>Perform site visits and inspections to assess soil conditions, evaluate foundation performance, and provide recommendations for rehabilitation</li>
<li>Stay current with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to geotechnical engineering</li>
<li>Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies</li>

Requirements:
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>BS in Civil Engineering (MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred)</li>
<li>Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required</li>
<li>Minimum of 10 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on the design of bridge foundations, retaining walls, treatment plant structures, and/ or facility foundations</li>
<li>Proficiency in the design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including driven piles, micro-piles, integral abutments, and reinforced earth structures</li>
<li>Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and foundation design</li>
<li>Experience with related geotechnical software, such as LPile, or other similar tools and industry-related applications</li>
<li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail</li>
