Berkshire Hills Music Academy (BHMA) is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and organized professionals to join our Residential Team as Residential Advisors. Three positions available for Advisor I and II. This role combines direct support, mentorship, participant advocacy, and family communication to help young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence and achieve meaningful personal goals.
Unlike a traditional direct support position, Residential Advisors serve as key members of the residential team, partnering with families, mentoring Residential Assistants, and helping create a positive and engaging residential experience.
We welcome applicants with experience in special education, healthcare, residential services, direct support, and other helping professions.
What You'll Do
- Support participants in developing independent living skills including hygiene, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, transportation, and social skills.
- Serve as the primary advisor for assigned participants.
- Develop and implement individualized schedules and supports.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding participant progress, accomplishments, and concerns.
- Document participant progress, incidents, and daily notes.
- Support participant goals related to residential living, employment, life skills, and music engagement.
- Mentor and support Residential Assistants during assigned shifts.
- Collaborate with Health & Wellness, Life Skills, Vocational, and Music teams.
- Ensure participant safety and uphold BHMA, DDS, MAP, and human rights standards.
- Administer medications and maintain required certifications.
