JOB GOAL: Support young students in class with learning English and making appropriate grade level growth. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist with set up of classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional unitsAssist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functionsPlan, develop and implement class curriculum approved by the teacherProvide instructional support services under the supervision of the teacherProvide corrective feedback to students and re-teach as necessaryServe as mentor to the studentsCommunicate, collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors and studentsSupport individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning activitiesAssist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materialsAssist in administering pre- and post-testingConduct parental involvement activitiesMay be asked to support students in unified arts classes (Art, Music, World Cultures, PE and Library)Complete written reports and assigned tasks related to the functionsParticipate in meetings as requestedAssist with assessments, data collection, behavior plans and transitions.May be asked to attend curriculum meetings and classroom team meetings.Follow the schedule provided by the supervising teacherCover classes when needed.Complete additional tasks assigned.EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree or Para Pro TestExperience in public education in an urban setting, preferredAbility to work effectively with students and staffAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in both English and PortugueseAbility to communicate effectively with parentsKnowledge of current educational practices The Lowell Community Charter Public School is committed to creating an environment of inclusion cross-geography and across traditional lines of differences, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.
