Step into a meaningful contract position supporting young learners in specialized educational settings. Full-time Special Education Teachers are sought for dedicated classrooms serving K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. You’ll be working within a welcoming, resource-rich environment focused on individualized support—some students are non-verbal, on the autism spectrum, and benefit from RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) assistance. Onsite presence is required, and the role is open to both local educators and travel professionals ready for a rewarding opportunity.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Valid teaching credential in Special Education
- Experience working in substantially separate/sped classrooms, especially with students with severe multiple disabilities
- Familiarity providing toileting and daily living support in educational settings
- Proficiency with specially designed instruction practices
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience strongly preferred
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other support staff
- Compassion, patience, and commitment to promoting student growth and independence
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals
- Implement positive behavior support plans and utilize ABA strategies as appropriate
- Collaborate with RBTs, therapists, and other specialists to create a cohesive support network
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required, including toileting
- Effectively communicate progress and needs to families and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain all documentation consistent with district and state compliance standards
