About the Opportunity
Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with an innovative healthcare technology company to identify a Lab Supervisor for a brand-new laboratory facility in Burlington, MA.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the laboratory during its initial build-out and launch phase. The Lab Supervisor will be one of the first members of the laboratory team and will play a critical role in establishing day-to-day operations, implementing processes, supporting validation activities, and helping build the laboratory from the ground up.
The laboratory will serve as a centralized R&D support facility, bringing testing and validation work in-house and supporting the continued growth of a rapidly expanding healthcare technology business.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and experienced laboratory professional who is comfortable operating in a startup environment, creating structure where processes are still being developed, and taking ownership of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Help lead the launch and day-to-day operations of a new laboratory facility.
-
Establish and implement laboratory workflows, procedures, and operational processes.
-
Ensure laboratory activities are performed in accordance with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
-
Provide hands-on supervision and support to laboratory testing personnel.
-
Assist with the development, implementation, and validation of laboratory testing procedures.
-
Support the laboratory's transition from setup and validation into routine operations.
-
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure laboratory records are complete and compliant.
-
Assist with equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and implementation.
-
Work closely with laboratory leadership and cross-functional R&D teams to support testing needs.
-
Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, quality, and workflow.
-
Help establish staffing schedules and ensure appropriate laboratory coverage.
-
Train, mentor, and support laboratory personnel as the team grows.
-
Troubleshoot operational issues and take ownership of resolving problems.
-
Maintain a strong culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
-
Perform hands-on laboratory testing and other duties as needed, particularly during the initial launch phase.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
-
Prior experience working in a laboratory environment subject to New York State laboratory requirements is required.

Previous laboratory supervisory, lead, or management experience preferred.
-
Strong understanding of laboratory operations, quality systems, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
-
Experience with laboratory validation and/or implementing new testing processes strongly preferred.
-
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced startup environment.
-
Comfortable building laboratory processes and workflows from the ground up.
-
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Willingness to be hands-on and actively involved in laboratory operations.
-
Experience working with automated laboratory instrumentation is preferred.
-
NY State laboratory licensure/eligibility is strongly preferred.
What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining.
You will have the opportunity to help establish a laboratory's processes, workflows, staffing structure, and culture from the beginning. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with limited infrastructure, identifying what needs to be done, and taking initiative to get it done.
Candidates coming from a hospital or clinical laboratory environment who are looking for an opportunity to take on greater ownership and have a direct impact on a new laboratory operation are encouraged to apply.
