Job Description
Mechanical Engineer – SolidWorks / Stress Analysis (Electronic Enclosures)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Mechanical Engineer with proven expertise in SolidWorks and stress analysis, specifically focused on the design and validation of electronic enclosures. This is a technical role for an engineer who is actively engaged in design and analysis work—not a managerial position.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in structural/mechanical analysis and a deep understanding of how enclosure designs perform under real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic enclosures using SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD tools)
- Perform stress and structural analysis (FEA) to validate designs and ensure durability and reliability
- Evaluate mechanical performance under various environmental and operational conditions (thermal, vibration, load, etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, manufacturing, and product teams to optimize enclosure designs
- Create detailed engineering documentation, drawings, and analysis reports
- Support prototyping, testing, and design iteration based on analysis results and physical testing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience (no recent graduates)
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software)
- Demonstrated experience with stress analysis / FEA, particularly for enclosures or structural components
- Proven experience designing or analyzing electronic enclosures or similar mechanical housings
- Ability to translate analytical results into practical design improvements
Preferred Profile
- Recent, hands-on technical experience (candidates primarily in management roles without recent design/analysis work will not be considered)
- Experience working in environments involving electronics, hardware packaging, or ruggedized systems
- Familiarity with industry standards related to enclosure performance (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.)
Ideal Candidate
This role is best suited for a detail-oriented, analytical engineer who enjoys working directly in CAD and simulation tools, solving real-world mechanical challenges, and ensuring designs meet rigorous performance standards.
