Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide telehealth services in an educational setting. This contract role is based in South Burlington, VT, and focuses on delivering remote educational support to students with hearing impairments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and ongoing educational support via telehealth platforms tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Developing individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school teams
- Implementing communication strategies and auditory training suitable for remote learning environments
- Providing guidance and resources to support students' academic and social development
- Monitoring progress and adapting instructional methods to meet student needs through virtual sessions
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience in telehealth or remote service delivery within educational contexts
- Strong knowledge of assistive technologies, auditory rehabilitation, and language development
- Excellent communication skills for engaging students, families, and educational professionals remotely
- Familiarity with individualized educational plans and compliance with educational standards for deaf and hard of hearing students
