Medical Assistant - Specialty Practice
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Competitive hourly pay based on experience
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a busy specialty healthcare practice. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their clinical skills, gain specialty experience, and grow into a long-term position with a strong healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for visits, including reviewing and coordinating necessary labs and testing.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs.
- Perform clinical duties within the MA scope of practice, including injections and EKGs.
- Obtain blood specimens following established procedures.
- Assist providers with office procedures and minor clinical procedures.
- Prepare laboratory requisitions and submit specimens to the appropriate lab.
- Process electronic prescriptions as directed by providers.
- Communicate with patients regarding laboratory and imaging results and prescription instructions.
- Clean and restock exam rooms.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and medical records.
- Provide a positive, professional, and patient-focused experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
- EPIC experience required.
- Current BLS certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting specialty care.
- Experience with minor procedures.
- Previous thyroid biopsy experience preferred.
- National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- Current nursing student or Paramedic experience is a plus.
- EMT experience is a plus.
