Job DescriptionCNC Lathe Machinist – 1st Shift

Location: Southwick

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Range: $26.10 – $32.25 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join our growing aerospace manufacturing team in Southwick, MA. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes, inspecting completed work, making offsets and adjustments as needed, and producing high-quality precision components that meet customer and industry standards.

The ideal candidate has strong CNC lathe experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of CNC Lathe machining experience

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical School training preferred

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets

  • Experience using inspection equipment including:- Micrometers

    • Calipers
    • Indicators
    • Preset gages
  • Ability to set tools and enter offsets into machine controls

  • Experience setting up boring jaws and mounting face plates with fixturing

  • Ability to operate multiple machines of the same function

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Experience working with close tolerances and complex part configurations

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision aerospace components
  • Follow operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions
  • Perform first-piece inspections and make machine adjustments as needed
  • Inspect finished parts to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface quality
  • Maintain AS9100 / ISO9001 documentation, traceability, and revision control requirements
  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and report concerns to supervision
  • Monitor tooling condition and replace worn tools when necessary
  • Complete production and inspection paperwork accurately
  • Maintain machines, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Follow all PPE, safety, and 6S procedures
  • Operate multiple CNC machines as needed
  • Perform daily maintenance on equipment and workstations

Working Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment with:

  • High noise levels from operating machinery
  • Exposure to metal chips, cutting fluids, fumes, dust, and mist
  • Moving mechanical equipment and forklifts
  • Sharp metal edges and machine components

Travel between Southwick and Westfield facilities may occasionally be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to read customer documents with or without corrective lenses
