Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

This role supports experienced machinists by assisting with machining operations, selecting and setting up tooling and fixtures, and maintaining accurate production records. The machine operator helps ensure parts meet quality standards by performing in-process inspections and using precision measuring tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside machinists to assist with machining operations on various equipment.
  • Aid in selecting and setting up the correct tooling, fixtures, and related components for each job.
  • Monitor production runs and keep accurate count of parts produced.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of parts, measurements, and production activities.
  • Assist in conducting in-process inspections of parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • Handle and operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during machining and assembly tasks.
  • Support basic mechanical troubleshooting and adjustments on equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with small teams on the production floor to meet deadlines and quality goals.
  • Apply good problem-solving skills to identify issues in the machining process and escalate or resolve them appropriately.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment that involves machining equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to perform basic in-process inspection of parts.
  • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a production setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with exposure to mechanical assembly, repair, or troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Capability to maintain accurate counts and production records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a quality inspector, mechanical assembler, or in mechanical repair and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly environments is an asset.
  • Familiarity with contract manufacturing or high-volume production work is a plus.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility operating multiple shifts. The primary schedules include a second shift from 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. and a weekend shift consisting of two 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday plus two 8-hour shifts on weekdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northfield, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.60 - $28.80/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
