The diversity within our students, staff, families and community and the many nations from which we come is a source of strength and an opportunity for learning.IN HOUSE SUBSTITUTE TEACHERFull Time with BenefitsREPORTS TO: PrincipalsJOB GOALS: Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and perform all essential functions of a teacher in the classroom.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow the teacher's written lesson plansCreate a positive learning environmentEnsure that the goals of the plans are metConsult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concernsComply with all building procedures and schedulesPrepare a written summary of work completed and any special notesImplement effective management procedures, maintain high expectations and uphold the student conduct codeCreate a referral for any infractionsWork cooperatively with other teachersUphold computer technology acceptable use policies.Build a working knowledge of the curriculum.Maintain the confidentiality of privileged informationTake precautions to ensure staff/student safetyProvide appropriate and consistent supervisionReport evidence of suspected child abuse as required by lawSupervise non-classroom duties when assignedAccepts personal responsibility for decisions and conductDevelop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for othersPerforms other specific job-related duties as directedEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, requiredMA Department of Education Certification preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSecond language or language acquisition background preferredExperience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures, preferredThe Lowell Community Charter Public School is committed to creating an environment of inclusion cross-geography and across traditional lines of differences, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.
