Senior Injection Mold Maker – 1st Shift

Location: Fitchburg, MA
Pay: $40.00–$55.00/hr., based on experience
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite

We are seeking an experienced Senior Injection Mold Maker for a hands-on tooling position supporting precision plastic injection molding.

The right candidate will have extensive experience building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex injection molds. This position requires strong toolroom machining skills and a detailed understanding of mold construction, fit, function, cooling, and ejection.

Responsibilities

• Build, fit, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair precision injection molds
• Perform engineering changes, preventive maintenance, refurbishments, and mold modifications
• Diagnose tooling problems and implement corrective actions
• Machine mold components using manual and CNC toolroom equipment
• Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM equipment
• Inspect mold components and verify tight-tolerance dimensions
• Work with cores, cavities, slides, lifters, ejector systems, cooling circuits, and mold actions
• Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD-generated prints
• Assemble and test molds for fit, function, cooling, and ejection
• Support mold sampling, qualification, and production
• Document tooling repairs, changes, inspections, and improvements
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling, and Production
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area

Required Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands-on mold-making experience
• Plastic injection molding tooling experience
• Demonstrated ability to build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot injection molds
• Strong knowledge of injection mold construction and function
• Experience operating mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and precision measurement skills
• Ability to work independently
• High school diploma or GED
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Tool-and-die apprenticeship or technical trade-school training
• SolidWorks, Mastercam, or comparable CAD/CAM experience
• Medical-device or regulated-manufacturing experience
• Tight-tolerance precision tooling experience
• Knowledge of mold design, manufacturability, and tooling optimization
