Hospice Volunteer in Barnstable!
Hospice Services of Massachusetts provides hospice services to patients throughout Massachusetts. Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and caring volunteers to join our team in the Sandwich area! As a hospice volunteer, you will work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator and interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families. This may include activities such as reading, doing arts & crafts, listening to music, reminiscing on memories, or simply having a conversation.
Responsibilities

Provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families

Assist with daily activities, such as reading, playing games, or watching movies

Engage in meaningful conversations and listen to patients' stories

Help with light household chores or meal preparation

Attend patient care conferences and provide input on patient care

Make phone calls to patients and families to offer support and companionship
Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old

Must have a reliable and insured method of transportation and a valid driver's license

Must be willing to visit patients in their home setting (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, homes, etc.)

Must be willing to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months

Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

Must be able to deal tactfully with confidential and personal information regarding patients and their plan of care
