Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with significant needs by providing dedicated support in a full-time, onsite role as a Special Education Teacher for Substantially Separate Classrooms. This position is ideal for passionate educators who are skilled in adapting curriculum and instruction for students requiring intensive individualized services. You'll work with either a K-1st grade room or a 3rd-5th grade room, supporting students with a range of cognitive and physical disabilities, including some who are non-verbal, on the autism spectrum, or require toileting assistance. Certain students will have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) support as part of the classroom team.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Strong background working with students who have severe disabilities
- Experience delivering specially designed instruction is preferred
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) knowledge highly valued
- Comfortable providing toileting support and utilizing assistive technology
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with additional support staff, such as RBTs
- Flexible and responsive to student needs in a dynamic classroom setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction based on each student’s IEP
- Adapt and modify curriculum, activities, and materials for various learning and communication styles
- Implement ABA strategies, positive behavior interventions, and supports
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reporting
- Establish a safe, nurturing, and structured environment, assisting with self-care tasks as needed
- Engage collaboratively with families, support staff, and multidisciplinary team members
