Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry role at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and recent EPIC proficiency.

  • Critical Access Hospital setting with a 25-bed capacity within 17 rooms, including 4 private rooms
  • \n

  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit that also cares for some Progressive Care level patients
  • \n

  • Patient population includes medical, telemetry, orthopedic, urology, GYN, and general surgery patients ranging from young adults to end of life
  • \n

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio generally 1:4 or 1:5 based on acuity
  • \n

  • Unit is supported by LNA/CNA/PCT staff (2-3 per shift) and unit clerks/secretaries
  • \n

  • Utilizes EPIC for documentation and PYXIS for medication management
  • \n

  • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Philips cardiac monitoring equipment
  • \n

  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • \n

  • Minimum every other weekend required, with schedule adjustments based on unit needs
  • \n

  • Floating is voluntary only and not required
  • \n

  • 24/7 respiratory therapy support available for ventilator and nebulizer management
  • \n

  • 24/7 hospitalist coverage dedicated to the unit
  • \n

  • 24/7 lab and x-ray support available
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active VT RN license or compact license required
  • \n

  • AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
  • \n

  • NIHSS certification required prior to start
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
  • \n

  • Progressive care experience preferred
  • \n

  • EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
  • \n

  • Unit functions as the facility's Code 99, Rapid Response, Fall, and IV team
  • \n

  • Written protocols in place for supportive care during patient transfers to higher levels of care
  • \n

  • House supervisors provide oversight across units when managers are not present, with on-call manager support available
  • \n

  • Team culture emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and strong nursing contributions
  • \n

  • Holiday coverage required as needed to staff the unit, including 2 of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)
  • \n

  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation in the area
  • \n

  • All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
  • \n

  • Local candidates accepted, with rates tiered based on mileage from the facility
  • \n
