Make a meaningful impact supporting students in a specialized school setting by stepping into a key special education teaching role for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work closely with a dedicated, small group of 5th and 6th grade students in a Life Skills/Intensive Needs program. You’ll provide individualized instruction and case management, ensuring every student receives the guidance and support they need to thrive—both academically and personally.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students with intensive needs, preferably in a Life Skills environment
- Strong skills in IEP development, implementation, and case management
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning styles
- Understanding of behavioral intervention strategies and collaboration with support staff
- Exceptional communication and documentation abilities
- Enthusiasm for fostering independence in students with significant support needs
Role Highlights:
- Full-time, contract position from ASAP through June 2027 (Monday–Friday, 35–37.5 hours per week)
- Teach a small caseload (currently three students), allowing for focused instruction and relationship-building
- Develop, update, and manage IEPs; coordinate with general education teachers and related service providers
- Support students through daily routines, academic tasks, and community-based learning activities
- Provide progress monitoring, collect data, and adjust strategies as needed to support student success
