Job Description

Job Description

Our organization’s Department of Anesthesiology is on the lookout for a talented and adaptable General Anesthesiologist to become part of a critical access hospital that has been dedicated to serving Sullivan County, New Hampshire, for over 130 years.

This position offers a chance to deliver exceptional anesthesia care in a community hospital setting where your skills will have a direct influence. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team while attending to a varied patient demographic in a supportive and cooperative atmosphere.

The hospital has continuously adapted to meet the evolving needs of its community, now offering a wide array of inpatient, emergency, surgical, and specialty services. For anesthesiologists, this translates to a practice filled with clinical diversity and significant responsibilities, all while enjoying the close-knit environment and personal connections that community medicine provides.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia care to adult and adolescent patients within a diverse community hospital setting.

  • Manage a wide variety of surgical cases, with opportunities in specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and robotics.

  • Provide both general and regional anesthesia, including the chance to perform regional blocks and other procedures.

  • Contribute significantly to the efficient and high-quality operations of the operating room.

  • Establish strong working relationships with surgical and anesthesia colleagues in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

  • Ensure that patients in Sullivan County have access to top-notch anesthesia and surgical care close to their homes.

  • Engage in quality, safety, and practice improvement initiatives that enhance the anesthesia service and the hospital.

  • Maintain opportunities for teaching and mentorship through collaboration with a medical center.

Why You Will Enjoy This Role

  • Experience the independence and variety of community anesthesia while working in a supportive hospital environment.

  • Maintain a broad general anesthesia practice rather than being confined to a narrow subspecialty.

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons and CRNAs in a model that values your clinical expertise.

  • Become a vital member of the OR team and have a noticeable impact on the delivery of anesthesia care.

  • Work at a critical access hospital that is deeply integrated into the community it serves.

  • Enjoy 1,680 clinical hours during weekdays, with limited pager call and minimal weekend obligations.

  • Receive competitive compensation based on shifts, with additional pay for hours beyond standard clinical times.

  • Benefit from the resources and academic connections of a medical center, including opportunities for teaching and professional growth.

  • Receive up to $15,000 in relocation assistance, depending on mileage, to facilitate your move.

Life Beyond the Hospital

  • Experience the welcoming atmosphere of a New Hampshire community with a strong affinity for the outdoors.

  • Enjoy year-round recreational activities, including skiing, hiking, biking, and boating.

  • Take in the stunning New England scenery without the hustle and bustle of a major city.

  • Discover family-friendly neighborhoods, excellent educational institutions, and a great environment for establishing roots.

  • Explore local dining, arts, cultural events, and community activities throughout the region.

  • Benefit from easy access to larger communities in both New Hampshire and Vermont.
