About the Role
We're looking for a Nurse Practice Educator / Infection Preventionist to lead two areas that have a direct impact on quality resident care: clinical education and infection prevention.
You'll develop the knowledge and competencies of our team while also leading the center's infection prevention and control program. That means translating clinical standards into practice, identifying education needs, validating competencies, monitoring infection trends, strengthening prevention practices, and using data and observation to identify where the organization can improve.
This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys both teaching people and improving systems. The NPE component centers on orientation, education, competency development, mentoring, QAPI, and regulatory readiness, while the IP component carries responsibility for surveillance, infection-control systems, antibiotic stewardship, risk assessment, reporting, and prevention education.
What You'll Do
-
Assess clinical education and competency needs throughout the center.
-
Develop and lead new-hire clinical orientation and ongoing staff education.
-
Coordinate and validate nursing and clinical competencies.
-
Coach employees and leaders when clinical practice or knowledge gaps are identified.
-
Develop education in response to regulatory changes, quality trends, incidents, survey findings, and identified risks.
-
Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's infection prevention and control program.
-
Conduct infection surveillance and analyze infection data and trends.
-
Investigate infection patterns and implement appropriate prevention and control measures.
-
Lead antibiotic-stewardship activities.
-
Conduct infection-control risk assessments.
-
Monitor clinical practices for infection-prevention compliance.
-
Educate staff on standard and transmission-based precautions and other infection-control practices.
-
Coordinate required public-health reporting.
-
Maintain accurate education, competency, surveillance, and infection-prevention records.
-
Participate in QAA/QAPI and performance-improvement initiatives.
-
Partner with nursing leadership, environmental services, employee health, providers, and other departments.
-
Support survey readiness and corrective-action education.
-
Remain current on clinical standards, infection-prevention guidance, and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
-
Current, unrestricted RN license in practicing state or applicable compact license; BSN preferred.
-
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
-
Minimum three years of clinical nursing experience.
-
Experience in clinical education, staff development, infection prevention, nursing leadership, or a combination of these areas.
-
Education, training, or certification in infection prevention and control.
-
Completion of required specialized infection-prevention training.
-
Current CPR certification.
-
Strong teaching, facilitation, coaching, and adult-learning skills.
-
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify patterns and translate findings into action.
-
