Overall Purpose:

The Fabrication & Assembly Operator is responsible for the manual fabrication, cutting, assembly, and inspection of sealing products according to customer specifications and production requirements. This role focuses on hands-on production activities, including hand cutting and trimming gasket materials, assembling components, preparing materials, and ensuring finished products meet quality standards. The position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions.


Description of Key Responsibilities:

  • Manually cut, trim, and fabricate gaskets and sealing products using hand tools, cutting tools, templates, and other approved fabrication equipment.
  • Assemble gaskets, seals, and related components according to drawings, specifications, work orders, and customer requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and prepare gasket materials for cutting, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, dimensions, specifications, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.
  • Select and handle appropriate materials based on job requirements, including rubber, sheet gasket materials, and other sealing products.
  • Use hand tools and basic fabrication equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned work.
  • Perform deburring, trimming, cleaning, and finishing of fabricated parts to meet quality requirements.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for accuracy, defects, proper dimensions, and overall quality.
  • Verify that completed products meet customer specifications and production standards before moving to the next stage of production.
  • Package, label, and prepare completed products for shipment or further processing as required.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, including proper storage of tools, materials, and finished products.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable manufacturing safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records, work orders, and other documentation as required.
  • Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, production issues, and other concerns to the supervisor or appropriate team member.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to meet production goals, deadlines, and customer requirements.
  • Assist with material handling, inventory organization, and general fabrication department activities as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and process discipline.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, gasket production, assembly, or a related hands-on production environment preferred.
  • Experience with hand cutting, trimming, measuring, or assembling materials is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, dimensions, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to use hand tools, measuring tools, and basic fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned production tasks.
  • Basic computer skills for production records and reporting.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and willingness to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to learn and perform repetitive production tasks with accuracy and consistency.
  • Previous experience with rubber, sheet materials, gaskets, or industrial sealing products is beneficial but not required.
