Job DescriptionJob Type: On-Site PositionLocation: Athol, MAPay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hourJoin a growing manufacturing team!We are seeking an experienced Automation Technician to support, maintain, and improve automated manufacturing equipment. This position plays a key role in programming, troubleshooting, and developing automation systems while working closely with the Maintenance and Engineering teams.Responsibilities
- Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programming for production equipment.
- Program PLCs using:
- RSLogix 500
- RSLogix 5000
- DirectSOFT32
- Design HMI interfaces using:
- RSView Machine Edition
- RSView32
- WinBuild 5000
- PanelBuilder32
- Install, configure, and program variable frequency drives (VFDs) and servo drives.
- Set up and maintain DeviceNet communication networks.
- Program motion control systems.
- Design and build electrical control panels.
- Create and update electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Support Cognex Vision Systems used for quality inspection.
- Maintain and upgrade automation systems on existing equipment.
- Assist maintenance mechanics with electrical, mechanical, and production line troubleshooting.
- Build and install new electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Assist with equipment design, startup, testing, and programming.
- Perform electrical repairs throughout the facility.
- Coordinate with outside contractors when necessary.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Electronics or related technical field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of PLC and HMI programming experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Allen-Bradley PanelView HMI systems
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, WinBuild, and PanelBuilder software.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 35–50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Stand for extended periods on concrete floors.
- Work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot manufacturing areas, air-conditioned spaces, and outdoor conditions.
- Work may include wet environments.
- Regular exposure to welding, fabrication, and paint booth areas.
