This full-time position is located near Williamstown, MA and seeks dedicated Special Education Teachers for Substantially Separate Classrooms, serving students in K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade. The role involves working with a severe caseload of students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities, including those who are non-verbal or on the autism spectrum. Some students will have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) support in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience working with students with significant disabilities (both cognitive and physical)
- Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and experience in delivering specially designed instruction is highly preferred
- Comfort with toileting support and personal care for students with limited independence
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability are essential
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals, using evidence-based strategies
- Provide instruction and behavioral support for students with severe needs, including non-verbal learners
- Adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of abilities and communication styles
- Work collaboratively with RBTs and other support staff
- Engage with families and related service providers to promote student growth and well-being
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as needed
