Role Description The Lifeguard is a full-time, on-site role based in Holyoke, MA, responsible for ensuring the safety of all youth and visitors in and around the aquatic facilities. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, preventing unsafe behavior, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. The Lifeguard will perform regular checks of the pool area and equipment, maintain cleanliness and order, and assist with opening and closing procedures. This role also involves supervising swim activities, supporting swim lessons or aquatic programs, and promoting a positive, respectful environment. The Lifeguard collaborates with Club staff to uphold organizational policies and communicates clearly with youth, families, and colleagues.\n
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong swimming skills and current lifeguard certification (e.g., American Red Cross or equivalent), including CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.

  • Candidates should possess skills in safety awareness, emergency response, and risk prevention in an aquatic environment.
  • \n

  • Candidates should possess clear and respectful communication skills, including the ability to give instructions, de-escalate situations, and interact effectively with youth and families.
  • \n

  • Candidates should possess the ability to stay alert for extended periods, maintain focus in busy environments, and respond calmly under pressure.
  • \n

  • Candidates should possess strong teamwork and collaboration skills, working well with other staff and supporting Club programs and policies.
  • \n

  • Experience working with children or teens in recreational, educational, or youth development settings is beneficial.
  • \n

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; additional training or education in recreation, physical education, or youth services is a plus.
  • \n

  • Ability to pass required background checks and meet all organizational and regulatory compliance requirements.
