Contribute to a supportive and engaging education environment as a paraprofessional, providing essential assistance to students in both middle and high school settings. Two opportunities are available: one role involves working one-on-one with a nonverbal 8th grader with Autism in a middle school, while the other supports a small group of high school students with IEPs in the general population classroom setting. This contracted position spans the academic year, running weekdays from August through June.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or similar support role in schools
- Ability to provide personal care, including toileting and hygiene support
- Comfortable assisting with daily academic activities and adapting to individual student needs
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable demeanor
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Willingness to collaborate with educators, therapists, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Offer individualized or small group support to students, ensuring their physical, academic, and emotional needs are met
- Assist with toileting, personal care, and mobility as required
- Implement strategies to augment communication, including alternative and augmentative systems for nonverbal students
- Support classroom instruction by reinforcing lessons and encouraging participation
- Monitor and document student progress and behaviors as part of the educational team
- Uphold district policies and foster a positive, respectful environment
The roles offer weekday schedules (Monday through Friday) with consistent hours, providing a stable routine throughout the school year. The workday includes a midday break for lunch and totals 32.5 hours per week.
