We are enhancing our Advanced Practice Provider team within a cutting-edge 44-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at our new Heart Center. We seek enthusiastic and diverse individuals to become part of our team in Boston. By joining us, you will collaborate with a dedicated group of Advanced Practice Providers, Attending Physicians, and Fellows. Your primary responsibility will be to care for critically ill pre and post-operative cardiac patients, as well as children with cardiac medical needs in the intensive care setting. Our comprehensive Orientation Program is designed to equip you for managing these complex cases and to help you excel in our environment. Primary Responsibilities:

• Delivering care to infants, children, and adults with both congenital and acquired heart conditions.
• Managing patients with acute and chronic cardiac diseases.
• Working alongside the CICU Attending physician to perform patient assessments, gather medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and identify health and developmental issues.
• Engaging in CICU medical rounds, which includes presenting clinical data, developing care plans, and adjusting management strategies for patients throughout your shift.
• Providing pre and post-operative care for critically ill cardiac patients, which includes ventilator management, inotropic support, ECMO, CVVH, handling emergencies, and sedation titration.
• Learning procedures such as intubation and central line placement through both simulation and real-time, hands-on experiences.
• Participating in an extensive Orientation Program with a designated preceptor, including simulation and didactic classes, as well as hands-on training. You will also have access to in-person and virtual lectures from Heart Center specialists, along with electronic recordings available on OpenPediatrics.
• Contributing to ongoing research initiatives and committees within the CICU.
• Providing consultation and educational support to staff, patients, and families.
• Working 30 hours per week, with a rotation that may include up to 50% day/night shifts, every third weekend, and some holidays (including major ones).

Essential Qualifications Education:

• A graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in critical care as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
• A strong foundation in cardiopulmonary critical care medicine, with a keen interest in congenital cardiac conditions.
• Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced cardiac intensive care environment.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with medical and surgical teams, staff, and trainees.

Licensure / Certifications:

• A valid license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

This position includes a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on your experience.
