Job Description

This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and validating manufacturing and test processes that support a dynamic fleet of robots and mechatronic systems. You will work within a robotics manufacturing and technical operations organization to drive strategic, large-scale projects, particularly around new product introduction, process optimization, and safety risk mitigation. The position primarily supports second-shift operations and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to groundbreaking robotics technology in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and foster a culture of inclusion across the manufacturing and technical operations organization.
  • Own process optimization and cost reduction initiatives for existing and sustaining manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of optimized manufacturing and test processes for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Implement technology and tool improvements that positively impact safety, quality, and cost targets.
  • Perform critical process reviews, including comprehensive risk and hazard assessments, to reduce safety risks.
  • Develop, document, and validate processes specific to NPI programs, ensuring performance to plan and meeting deliverables.
  • Write clear business and operational planning documents to support capital equipment investments and plant infrastructure changes.
  • Use project management tools to plan, track, and deliver manufacturing and process-related projects, including those with accelerated schedules.
  • Apply industry-standard problem-solving tools such as 8D, Fishbone/Cause-Effect, and CAPA methodology to address root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Utilize quality and statistical tools, including PFMEA, control charting, pareto analysis, and histograms, to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, science, and product teams to design and refine processes that support robotics manufacturing and automated solutions.
  • Use CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support process design, layout, and documentation of manufacturing systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and manufacturing process enhancement initiatives, including Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Apply process optimization tools, including programming, mapping, simulation, or algorithm-based approaches, to reduce lead time and improve throughput.
  • Communicate effectively through written and verbal business communications, organizational updates, and reporting of metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Travel as needed (approximately 10%) to support projects and cross-site initiatives when business travel is required.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools to manage and deliver manufacturing and process-related projects.
  • Experience working in a New Product Introduction (NPI) environment, including familiarity with Phase-Gate processes.
  • Proficient CAD skills with demonstrated capabilities in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience using industry-standard problem-solving tools such as 8D, Fishbone/Cause-Effect, and CAPA methodology.
  • Proficiency with quality and statistical tools, including PFMEA, control charting, pareto analysis, and histograms.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills, including the ability to create operational documents and report metrics.
  • Background in process optimization within manufacturing settings.
  • Understanding of GMP, Lean Six Sigma concepts, and structured process improvement approaches.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced engineering degree is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver projects on accelerated schedules.
  • Demonstrated analytical approach to problem-solving, using data to guide decisions.
  • Experience in manufacturing and process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and ERP systems.
  • Experience with tool and equipment programming within manufacturing environments.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to solve problems independently and in collaborative team settings.
  • Experience with process optimization tools, including programming, process mapping, simulation, or algorithm development.
  • Comfort working with project management tools and reporting against key performance indicators such as safety risk mitigation, NPI performance to plan, and lead time reduction.
