Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

Provides respiratory care to patients of all ages with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions per physician orders and protocols. Administers respiratory treatments, manages airways and mechanical ventilation and monitors response to therapy. Collaborates with the care team to support respiratory outcomes.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program: Required
• Hospital respiratory care experience: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential and state licensure: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients and implement respiratory care plans per physician orders.
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications and airway clearance treatments.
• Initiate, manage and wean mechanical ventilation and non-invasive support.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and diagnostic testing as ordered.
• Respond to Code Blue and rapid response events and assist with airway management.
• Document therapy and patient response accurately and maintain equipment.
