Step into a meaningful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher focused on life skills and intensive needs for 5th and 6th graders. This contract position runs full-time, Monday through Friday, from now until June 2027. You’ll join a dedicated team making a difference for a small group of students in a specialized educational setting.
This opportunity will let you build strong, individualized connections, as the program currently serves just three students, allowing for a personalized approach to teaching and case management. Your expertise will help guide these students in both academic and life skills, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Previous experience working with students who have intensive needs preferred
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Skilled in collaboration with families, support staff, and related service providers
- Strong documentation and case management abilities
- Excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in life skills and academics to 5th and 6th grade students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and individual progress
- Serve as a case manager coordinating with internal and external resources and services
- Adapt materials and modify curriculum as needed for individual abilities
- Maintain detailed records and clear communication with families
- Foster independence, social skills, and self-advocacy
