Interim Operations Support Manager – Sterile Processing Department

Schedule / Job Type\n

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day and Evening Rotation (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM); must be available for both shifts. Rotating leadership on-call coverage in one-week blocks (Friday through Thursday), including after-hours phone coverage and a one-hour weekend site visit (Saturday or Sunday).

Key Responsibilities\n

    \n
  • Lead day-to-day Central Processing Department operations, ensuring 24/7 service readiness and support for surgical and patient care areas.
  • \n

  • Oversee instrument reprocessing, sterilization workflows, inventory availability, throughput optimization, and customer service for operating rooms.
  • \n

  • Manage, coach, develop, and evaluate supervisors and staff, including performance management, scheduling, payroll oversight, and employee relations.
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, AAMI, AORN, CDC, OSHA, infection prevention, and applicable hospital standards.
  • \n

  • Partner with clinical leaders to support surgical case readiness and resolve operational issues affecting patient care.
  • \n

  • Monitor quality, safety, and regulatory performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • \n

Required Qualifications\n

    \n
  • CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
  • \n

  • Minimum five years of experience in Sterile Processing, or a combination of Operating Room and Sterile Processing operations.
  • \n

  • Minimum two years of demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare operations.
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of sterilization, infection prevention, regulatory standards, workflow management, and quality improvement.
  • \n

  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and team development skills.
  • \n

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare operational systems.
  • \n

Preferred Experience / Skills\n

    \n
  • CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) certification preferred.
  • \n

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; active matriculation into a bachelor's program to be completed within 24 months of hire is acceptable for permanent conversion consideration.
  • \n
