Job DescriptionMechanical Design Drafter
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience to support the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of our products. This role is responsible for creating 3D models, detailed drawings, assembly documentation, renderings, and engineering documentation for both current and future product lines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys collaborating with engineering, operations, manufacturing, purchasing, and product development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed part drawings and subassembly models using SolidWorks.
- Develop complete 3D models for existing, discontinued, and new MTI products.
- Produce detailed assembly instructions for Production and Service departments.
- Create high-quality renderings for Sales and Marketing materials.
- Develop illustrations and drawings for operator and service manuals.
- Generate subassembly drawings for manufacturing.
- Design prototype parts and create supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Product Design Manager to improve product designs, reduce assembly time, and lower material costs.
- Create and maintain part numbers and assembly numbers.
- Develop exploded assembly views for manufacturing and service documentation.
- Update 3D Bills of Materials (BOMs) as Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) are implemented.
- Organize and maintain engineering drawings and documentation for cross-functional use.
- Support Operations by developing QMS workflows and process flowcharts.
- Collaborate with the product development team on new product designs.
- Release drawings and models to Operations and Purchasing for supplier quotations.
- Maintain engineering revision control and document management.
- Ensure accurate file organization and engineering documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field (preferred).
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks with experience creating parts, assemblies, and production drawings.
- Experience with BOM management and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and GD&T knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
Pay $32 - $36 / hour Depending on experience
