Manufacturing Engineer II (Cable & Harness)
Location: Wilmington, MA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $95,000 - $125,000 per year
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and creative Manufacturing Engineer II to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will be the technical lead for the processes used to manufacture high-quality cable and harness products. You will drive continuous improvement through process development, root cause analysis, and systematic problem-solving while serving as the primary technical interface for our internal teams and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development: Develop and document operating procedures, work instructions, and visual aids to ensure 100% quality and optimum yields.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain routings, Bills of Material (BOMs), drawings, and detailed assembly/inspection instructions.
- Tooling & Fixturing: Design and implement specialized tooling and fixtures to facilitate efficient production.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Provide critical DFM support at all stages of the product design cycle to optimize manufacturability.
- Change Management: Incorporate customer change notices (ECNs/ECOs) into manufacturing documentation and ensure configuration management of all cables.
- Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical advisor between Program Managers, customers, and internal departments to resolve technical issues and coordinate schedule changes.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate estimated vs. actual production costs; correct routing times and BOMs to reflect accurate data.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in the electronics and/or electro-mechanical field (Contract Manufacturing experience is a major plus).
- Technical Skills: Complete understanding of engineering drawings, parts lists, technical specifications, and engineering change notices.
- Software: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with IPC-WHMA-A-620 or similar industry standards is highly preferred.
