Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler will build heat exchangers, subassemblies, and related units in an open shop environment using drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and engineering specifications. This role focuses on stacking and assembling products and metal sheets prior to brazing, ensuring all assemblies meet quality standards, tolerances, and specifications. When production slows or materials are delayed, the Mechanical Assembler will support general labor activities throughout the facility, contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient work area.

Responsibilities

Assemble heat exchangers, subassemblies, and related units according to drawings, bills of materials, and engineering specifications.
Stack and position metal sheets and components accurately before they are sent to brazing.
Follow work instructions and production documentation to complete tasks correctly and efficiently.
Ensure all assemblies meet required quality standards, tolerances, and specifications.
Identify non-conforming components or assemblies and perform basic repairs or adjustments as needed.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during mechanical assembly tasks.
Perform general labor tasks around the facility during slower production periods, including cleaning, sweeping, painting, and minor repairs.
Handle and move materials and products within the production area, including heavier items when required.
Collaborate with production team members to meet project deadlines and support varying customer orders.
Work autonomously when necessary while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and safety.

Essential Skills

At least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly environment.
Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic production documentation.
Comfort performing general labor tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, painting, and simple repairs during slow periods.
Mechanical aptitude, such as experience with automotive mechanics or working on mechanical equipment.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and handle metal components safely.
Attention to quality, including verifying that assemblies meet specified standards and tolerances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working with sheet metal and metal fabrication.
Experience in mechanical assembly, particularly with metal components.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, or similar technical documents.
Experience with quality control in a production environment.
Forklift experience is a plus.
Experience in production or electronic assembly environments.
Ability to work autonomously when necessary while maintaining productivity and quality.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, first-shift role with working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is based in an open warehouse environment that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas. The facility does not have air conditioning, but multiple industrial-sized fans are installed at every station to improve comfort, and water and electrolytes are provided to support hydration. Approximately 20 people work in production, creating a collaborative yet hands-on atmosphere. The dress code is very casual, with steel-toed boots required for safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dover, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
