The Quality Control Inspector will work on the inspection of handheld analytical testing devices used to identify compounds, minerals, and elements in a wide range of environments. This role operates in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing setting and focuses on ensuring that each device meets strict quality and performance standards. You will work at a dedicated workstation while collaborating closely with the assembly team to support production and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Inspect handheld analytical testing devices to ensure they meet established quality and performance specifications.
- Perform visual inspections of components and finished products, including printed circuit boards (PCBs) and mechanical assemblies.
- Use measuring tools such as micrometers and small hand tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and assembly accuracy.
- Conduct testing, calibration, and validation procedures on instruments and test equipment to confirm proper operation.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electronic issues identified during inspection and testing, and document findings clearly.
- Work closely with the assembly team to address quality concerns, provide feedback, and support corrective actions.
- Follow standardized quality control processes and production procedures to maintain consistency and reliability.
- Record inspection results and test data accurately, including basic data entry and tracking using Excel or similar tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and handle instruments, electronics, and tools with care and precision.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and suggesting enhancements to inspection methods.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with inspection processes in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency in using small hand tools and mechanical tools for assembly, adjustment, and inspection tasks.
- Ability to perform visual inspection of mechanical and electronic components, including PCBs and assemblies.
- Familiarity with test equipment, instrumentation, and basic calibration and validation procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand tools and mechanical assemblies comfortably.
- Basic Excel familiarity for recording inspection data and maintaining simple logs or reports.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with quality inspection or quality control in electronics or manufacturing settings.
- Exposure to production environments involving assembly, testing, and repair of electronic devices.
- Comfort working with handheld tools and equipment for fine mechanical and electronic work.
- General troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electronic components.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly assembly and production staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks at an individual workstation while contributing to group activities.

Work Environment
This position is based in a clean manufacturing environment focused on high-tech handheld analytical devices. You will primarily work at your own dedicated workstation, with regular opportunities to collaborate in group settings alongside the assembly team. The role involves working with test equipment, instrumentation, small hand tools, and electronic components in a controlled, organized space. The standard shift runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a structured daytime schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woburn, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
