Located near Holyoke, MA, this contract role is perfect for individuals passionate about working with children in classroom and 1:1 settings. With an immediate start and full-time schedule of over 30 hours per week, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both students and teachers, particularly in inclusive and intensive autism classrooms.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a school environment is highly valued
- Background working with elementary-aged children, especially those with autism or special needs
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with teachers, students, and staff
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to various learning and behavioral needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in special education is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom support, assisting lead teachers with instructional activities and behavioral management
- Offer 1:1 support to students as directed, helping with academic tasks and social development
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere for all students
- Support students in inclusion settings and within intensive autism programs according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of learning materials, and reinforcing lessons
- Help monitor student progress and communicate observations to the teaching team
