Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting near Bennington, VT. This contract position offers two immediate openings for long-term substitute teachers, with assignments anticipated through the end of the school year. Current needs include one middle grades position and one for PreK-5. Ideal candidates are passionate about inclusive education and have expertise in trauma-informed practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Training or demonstrated skill in trauma-informed instructional methods
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to adapt to new environments and quickly build rapport with students and staff
- Prior experience in a school-based setting is preferred
- Flexibility to step into a variety of classroom situations
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to students in special education settings
- Foster a safe, supportive, and trauma-sensitive classroom environment
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families to meet students’ learning goals
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Effectively manage classroom routines and student behavior
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and required documentation
