Senior Manager, Operations Engineering

Position Summary

\n

The Senior Manager, Operations Engineering leads core engineering operations — spanning production/manufacturing engineering, operations quality, and supplier engineering — for a manufacturer of smart, solar-powered products. This role ensures products are built with world-class quality, efficiency, and scalability, and drives operational excellence across the U.S. manufacturing operation and supplier network while supporting new product introductions and growth.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Manufacturing Engineering

\n

    \n
  • Manage production engineering team: assembly line design, process optimization, tooling/fixture development
  • \n

  • Lead continuous improvement and lean initiatives to increase throughput and improve safety
  • \n

  • Partner with Manufacturing to troubleshoot production issues and support on-time delivery
  • \n

  • Support launch of new products into full production, ensuring readiness for scaling
  • \n

Quality Engineering

\n

    \n
  • Lead quality systems, documentation, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and suppliers
  • \n

  • Oversee ISO and other regulatory system implementation and upkeep
  • \n

  • Own root-cause analysis and CAPA programs for production and field issues
  • \n

  • Partner with Design and NPI teams on manufacturability and reliability
  • \n

  • Track quality metrics (first-pass yield, supplier defect rate, field failure rate, warranty claims)
  • \n

  • Drive reliability testing and design-for-manufacturing/quality practices
  • \n

Leadership & Strategy

\n

    \n
  • Build and mentor a cross-functional engineering team (quality, production, supplier engineering) — approx. 30 direct/indirect reports across quality, engineering, production, and warehouse
  • \n

  • Translate strategic objectives into tactical plans improving quality, cost, delivery, capacity
  • \n

  • Manage department budgets, staffing plans, capital improvement projects
  • \n

\n

Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering (Master's preferred)
  • \n

  • 15+ years in manufacturing/operations engineering, including 3–5 years in leadership
  • \n

  • Proven ability to lead teams in a mixed electromechanical production environment (renewable energy, electronics, IoT products, or similar)
  • \n

  • Deep understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • \n

  • ERP/MRP experience; ISO 9001 or comparable quality standard familiarity preferred
  • \n
