We're seeking two skilled Special Education Teachers to fill long-term substitute roles—one for middle grades and one for PreK-5—beginning immediately and likely extending through the end of the academic year. Situated near the Wilmington, VT area, these positions offer the chance to make a real difference while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching license with a Special Education endorsement
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in special education within public schools
- Proven trauma-informed approach to classroom management and student engagement
- Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe, and responsive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction tailored to students’ IEPs
- Implement trauma-informed teaching strategies to support social-emotional and academic growth
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families to support student progress
- Monitor, assess, and document student development while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations
- Create engaging lesson plans and adapt materials to accommodate various learning abilities
- Support and advocate for students’ unique needs in both academic and behavioral areas
