Hopkinton Christian Preschool (HCP) is a premier preschool providing a complete developmentally-appropriate program for children ages 2.9 to 5 years. HCP is a ministry of Faith Community Church of Hopkinton. Faith Community Church is a non-denominational evangelical Christian church with a weekend attendance of 1000.

Role Purpose
\n
The Lead Teacher will be responsible for a classroom of children ages 2.9-5 years, providing leadership and oversight to the spiritual and educational needs of these preschool children and their families. The position requires skills in communicating, organizing, and building relationship with preschool children and families, in collaboration with the Director of the Preschool and other staff.

\n
The Lead Teacher position hours will vary with the individual teacher based on needs of the Preschool, specific classroom assignments, teacher preference and availability, and other staff member schedules, to ensure a fully staffed Preschool schedule. Work hours will occur within school hours from 8:30am-3pm, up to 5 days per week, with flexibility at the end of the day depending on activities and responsibilities.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
\n
The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as required.

- Have a vision and heart to teach God's word to preschoolers and have encouragement of the same for parents
- Instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, intellectual growth and spiritual awareness needed for primary school
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence and also meet the EEC requirements for professional development.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
- Establish and maintain good communication practices with Preschool Director, teaching team, and parents.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.
- Share in responsibility of insuring safety and cleanliness of the school area
- Participate in daily morning prayer session
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences
- Develop programs for individual needs of children when necessary
- Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health

Experience, Education, and Skills
\n
- \n
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a High School Diploma and Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor Degree helpful
- Must be a member of FCCH or a regular attender in pursuit of membership
- CPR and first aid certified or willing to become certified
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
- Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate preschool practices and teaching ability
- Monitoring -- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
- Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Time Management -- Managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Good communication skills with both children & parents
- Flexibility
- Problem Sensitivity -- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
