Job Description\n

Under the direction of the Radiologist and the CT Supervisor, performs CT procedures in accordance with department protocol at a technical level. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Able to perform a variety of technical procedures including but not limited to, interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced 3D reconstruction. These procedures require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation, using the ALARA principle for CT diagnosis.

Responsible for administering IV, oral, and rectal contrast. Responsible for maintaining equipment and proper supplies and must maintain a clean and organized work area. Minimal backup call required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities\n

    \n
  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • \n

  • Acquires scans according to radiologist and department protocol.
  • \n

  • Informs patients of exam and provides instruction to assure patient cooperation.
  • \n

  • Assists radiologist during interventional procedures.
  • \n

  • Coordinates daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department patients with consideration of the outpatient schedule.
  • \n

  • Reviews IV Contrast Questionnaire with patients receiving IV Contrast.
  • \n

  • Completes documentation in Epic EMR.
  • \n

  • Reviews exams in PACS for completeness prior to submitting to the radiologist.
  • \n

  • Responsible for the safety of all patients.
  • \n

  • Flexible to assist with the 24/7 coverage of the department.
  • \n

  • Arrives on time for all assigned shifts, including on-call, holidays, and weekends.
  • \n

  • Arrives ready to work and works until the end of the shift.
  • \n

  • Completes mandatory learning, competencies, and CEUs as required.
  • \n

  • Follows dress code policy.
  • \n

  • Maintains HIPAA compliance.
  • \n

  • Cleaning, stocking of supplies, and laundry to maintain a professional workspace.
  • \n

  • Other duties consistent with this role.
  • \n

Job Requirements Job Knowledge and Skills \n

    \n
  • Knowledge of CT Scan software, GE and Siemens preferred.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of PACS software, McKesson Change Healthcare preferred.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record, Epic preferred.
  • \n

  • Patient preparation, positioning, and scan acquisition according to protocol.
  • \n

  • Identifies anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging.
  • \n

  • Obtains symptom and relevant patient history to ensure medical necessity.
  • \n

  • Routinely attempts to reduce radiation to patients and staff.
  • \n

  • Understands daily QA and warm-up procedure of CT Scan equipment.
  • \n

  • Able to troubleshoot problems with CT Scan equipment and contact service as needed.
  • \n

  • Practices ALARA at all times.
  • \n

Education and Experience \n

    \n
  • Current ARRT certification required
  • \n

  • ARRT CT Registry eligible preferred
  • \n

  • NH Imaging License required
  • \n

  • BLS Certification required
  • \n

  • CT Scan experience required
  • \n

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands\n

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to a high level of responsibility for quality care.

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.

  • St. Joseph has the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
