Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our team in Westfield, MA. This is a direct hire opportunity on 1st shift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines, inspecting parts, and making necessary adjustments to ensure high-quality production.
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of CNC Milling Machinist experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Technical school preferred)
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of metals, alloys, speeds, and feeds
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets
- Experience with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
- Basic computer skills and strong organizational abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to pass and maintain Certified Operator Program
- Experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis machine setups (basic setups required)
- Ability to set tools, enter offsets, and run multiple machines
- Skilled in machine attachments, fixtures, vises, and rotaries
- Ability to troubleshoot machines and processes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working with tight tolerances and complex parts
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines
- Follow operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal instructions
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process checks
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools
- Adjust machine controls to maintain specifications
- Troubleshoot machines and processes as needed
- Complete production and inspection documentation
- Maintain compliance with AS9100 / ISO9001 standards
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping
- Operate multiple machines of similar function
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace following 6S standards
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with high noise levels
- Exposure to moving machinery, sharp metal edges, and cutting fluids
- Possible exposure to dust, fumes, and mist
- May require travel between Westfield and Southwick facilities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to read documents with or without corrective lenses
