Job DescriptionRay-Jurgen is hiring an experienced Field Service Technician to support our heavy-duty customers throughout Greater Boston, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire.This role focuses primarily on large vehicle lifting systems used by transit agencies, fleet operators, and other heavy-duty maintenance facilities. You do not need prior vehicle-lift experience. We are looking for someone who already knows how to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and low-voltage electrical systems in the field. We will teach you our equipment.If you are an experienced field technician who can walk into an unfamiliar mechanical problem, diagnose it methodically, and communicate professionally with the customer, this may be a strong fit.What You'll Work OnOur heavy-duty equipment includes:Mobile column vehicle liftsParallelogram liftsIn-ground vehicle liftsBus and rail maintenance lifting equipmentSome light-duty vehicle lifting equipmentThe position is primarily focused on service and repair, but you will also learn equipment installation and may participate in installation projects.What We're Looking ForWe expect you to bring the core technician skills. We will provide the equipment-specific training.A strong candidate will already be comfortable:Diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic equipmentTroubleshooting low-voltage electrical controlsUsing a multimeterReading electrical schematicsIdentifying problems systematically rather than simply replacing partsWorking independently at customer facilitiesCommunicating findings and recommendations directly to customersCompleting service documentation accuratelyKnowing when to continue troubleshooting and when to escalate for supportExperience in industrial field service, heavy equipment, generators, compressors, elevators/lifts, industrial maintenance, millwright work, HVAC, or similar technical environments can translate well to this position.Prior vehicle-lift experience is not required.TrainingOur equipment is specialized, and we do not expect a new technician to know it on day one. CompensationStarting pay: $40/hourOvertime opportunitiesSignificant prevailing-wage workWe expect approximately 10-25% of hours initially may qualify for prevailing-wage rates, depending on project assignments and customer requirements. That opportunity may increase substantially as you become trained, qualified, and established with our major heavy-duty customers.Prevailing-wage hours are driven by available work and customer assignments and are not guaranteed.What Success Looks LikeWithin approximately six months, a successful technician should be able to:Independently handle most routine heavy-duty service callsDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems safely and efficientlyRepair and maintain the major lift systems in our heavy-duty product lineCommunicate professionally with customersComplete accurate service documentationUnderstand when additional technical support is neededParticipate effectively in installation work when requiredWhy Ray-JurgenRay-Jurgen specializes in the installation and service of vehicle lifts and related shop equipment throughout New England.Our heavy-duty technicians work on equipment that is critical to the infrastructure supporting buses, rail systems, municipal fleets, and commercial vehicle operations.It is a specialized industry, and experienced technicians who learn it become highly valuable.As a condition to your employment with the Company, you acknowledge that the Company requires that a drug test be performed within 72 hours of your acceptance of the offer of employment set forth in this letter. You further acknowledge that if you (a) refuse to submit to any requested drug test for any reason, (b) test positive for the presence of illegal drugs, or (c) fail to take the test within 72 hours, the offer of employment made to you in this letter may be rescinded by the Company without liability. Also as a condition of employment by the Company, you hereby authorize the Company to conduct a background check prior to the Commencement Date, which will include a criminal investigation and verification of citizenship/immigration status, employment history, and education. In that regard, you acknowledge and agree that the offer of employment set forth in this letter is contingent upon the completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the Company. In consideration for the offer of employment set forth herein, you hereby waive any and all claims that you may have against the Company for invasion of your privacy in respect of the drug testing and background checks referenced above.
