You will manage a caseload of approximately 22 students with mild to moderate Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), primarily focusing on math and literacy. The school serves around 100 students, providing a close-knit atmosphere and outstanding support from a full-time interventionist and a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) counselor.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification/license
- Experience or commitment to working with elementary-aged students (grades 5/6)
- Strong background in literacy and math interventions for mild to moderate SLD
- Ability to create individualized education plans and collaborate with a diverse team
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans based on IEPs for students with SLD
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies to meet individualized needs
- Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, interventionists, SEL counselor, and administrators
- Actively participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development
- Support a nurturing classroom environment where all students feel valued and capable
