Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant

Schedule
Monday-Sunday
2-3 Shifts Per Week
12-Hour Night Shifts
Shift: 6:30 PM-7:00 AM
No Call
Patient Population / Volume
Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
Approximately 15-25 Patients Per Shift
Maximum Census Typically 25 Patients
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide Inpatient Thoracic Surgery Coverage
Manage Postoperative Thoracic Surgery Patients
Manage Patients on the Inpatient Floor, Step-Down Unit, and Patients Transferred From the OR or ICU
Perform History and Physical Examinations for Patients Transferred From Outside Hospitals
Provide Initial Response to Urgent Clinical Situations Until Additional Support Arrives
Manage Chest Tubes, Blake Drains, and Pigtail Catheters
Perform and Manage ABGs
Manage Nasogastric Tubes
Manage G-Tubes and J-Tubes

Code Team Available for Emergencies
Requirements
NCCPA Certification - Required
Minimum of 1 Year of Experience - Required
ACLS - Required
BLS - Required
DEA Registration - Required
Epic Experience - Preferred
Massachusetts License Not Required at Submission
Candidates Requiring Licensure Will Not Be Accepted
Credentialing
Standard Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 Days
Temporary Privileges May Be Considered
